2011 and later Duramax LML engines the fuel pressure release valve sensor is
located on the front end of the driver’s side fuel rail, under an EGR valve. In order to
remove the release valve sensor, the removal the EGR cooler system and fuel rail is
typically required and book time is as much as 8 hours. With the unique design of
this tool, the fuel pressure release sensor can be replaced in as little as 1.5 hours.
The unique design of this two-piece tool reduces the time needed to service the fuel
pressure release valve by not needing to remove the fuel rail and EGR system,
saving a tremendous amount of unnecessary labor. Technicians can now reduce
time by simply unbolting the AC compressor to remove the front EGR valve. This
tool is simply slipped onto the release valve from back to front and then the handle
slides onto the crescent end of the socket. The technician can then proceed with
loosening the fuel pressure release valve with ease.
